Zaatari Refugee Camp, September 2017.
Ihsaan,11, left his home in Syria when a bomb fell next to their house and a piece of shrapnel hit his younger brother Hussein’s eye meaning he urgently needed treatment. After living in Zaatari for two years, Ihsaan’s mum decided to make the journey across the sea to Germany looking for better medical treatment. Hoping that her sons would be able to be reunited with her, two years later Ihsaan and his seven brothers are still waiting. Ihsaan says he misses his mum a lot and gets frustrated that “There are other people who went with her in the same aeroplane, they have been able to be reunited with their children, but we’re still here.”
